Everything started in 1958 in a small town of the “Entre-Deux-Mers” region… At this time the Ducourt Family, owners of Chateau des Combes, settled in the hamlet of Hourc. Hourc, which means in the ancient local dialect ‘oven’, was a gathering place during the Middle Ages where people use to bake traditional bread. The flour used came from the Haurets’ mill , located only a stone’s throw from the Chateau des Combes.
Pierre Ducourt, Bernard Ducourt’s great grand father, arrived at the family estate in 1885. His son Louis inherited his position in 1919; at that time the property consisted of 9 hectares of vineyards.
In 1951, the arrival of Henri Ducourt on the domain set the beginning of a new era for the Ducourt’s vineyard. As an ambitious and brave wine maker and with the help of his three children (Bernard, Marie-Christine and Philippe), he revitalised his activity and managed to elevate the Ducourt vineyard among the most important vineyards in the Bordeaux area (440 acres, 12 Chateaux) …

Chateau des Combes 貢貝酒堡
The Chateau des Combes, in the heart of the Entre Deux Mers and Haut Benauge, is situated in Ladaux part of the Hourc hamlet, where the Ducourt family originated.

Chateau des Demoiselles 姑娘 酒堡
On the 20th of May 1348 the king of England, Edouard Ⅲ Plantagenet, gave his permission for this chateau to be built. It belonged to the De La Roque Family and was first called “Le Chateau De La Tour”. In 1866, this vineyard covered 400 acres. It was the first vintage of Coimieres.

Chateau Larroque 拉洛克酒堡
In the Middle Ages a sisterhood of nuns, with Basque origins, established itself on the grounds of this estate. With courage and perseverance, they tended the vines and gave voluntary lessons to the children of the parish. By visiting ‘Les Demoiselles’ you could be sure to get help and prudent advices.

Winegrowers for six generations, the GERMAIN family has found its true raison d'etre in the cultivations of vines and the fermentation, ageing and marketing of wines.
In the late 19th century, Vincent SAINCRIT, maternal great-grandfather of Bernard GERMAIN, consolidat e d the foundations of the family. He handed down the memory of a man who was passionate, demanding and a perfectionist. From his original trade as a miller, this very great winegrower retained his love of the land, the terroirs and their characteristics. He cultivated vines with energy and passion, never hestitating to espouse new ideas an behalf of a wine of quality. He instilled deeply the GERMAIN family a spirit and know-how that was respectful of traditions.
Relaunched in 1986 by the Gonet family, famous for its Champagnes Great Vintage, the Chateau Lesparre today covers a surface of 280 hectares under three guaranteed vin eyard s : Bordeaux Superieur, Graves de Vayres and Pessac Leognan.
The vineyard is divided into three great entities: 180 hectares around the chateau in the communes of Caillau and Vayres, 80 hectares (since 1999) on the Green Island in the estuary of the Gironde, opposite Margaux. This acquisition enables us to develop a new specific range of the Island wine (Chateau de l’Ile Verte , Chateau Belle Ile, Chateau La Terrasse, Chateau Valrose).
